Mission & Background

Our Mission

The Northeast Indiana Local Food Network supports the growth of a vibrant local food marketplace across Northeast Indiana, by increasing the visibility and economic opportunities for our region’s local food producers and businesses, so they can expand their sales both locally and beyond.

 

Our History

In 2016, the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership identified the need to implement an ambitious action plan for strengthening local food networks across Northeast Indiana. They brought together economic development leaders and local food system stakeholders under the umbrella of a regional steering committee. In 2017, that committee launched the Northeast Indiana Local Food Network to support growth of a strong local food economy in Northeast Indiana.

 

Our Purpose

The Northeast Indiana Local Food Network works to enhance the quality of place of Northeast Indiana by promoting local food culture in the region and supporting local food entrepreneurship.

 

Objectives

Local Food Promotion

Promote and strengthen the Northeast Indiana local food culture through increased marketing and public awareness.

Local Food Entrepreneurship Support

Promote and strengthen the local food economy in Northeast Indiana by collaborating to provide networking opportunities, as well as business and technical support to local food entrepreneurs, and to connect them with regional investors.
