Event Details

This is a two-part tour, rain or shine, although we’ll make some adjustment if it rains!

We’ll start at Spring River Dairy at 1:00pm. Lavern Fry will introduce you to their lovely little herd of serene Jersey cows on pasture and calves in their pens, explain the small farm milking process and show you around their peaceful farm and tidy milking parlor!

Afterward (around 2:15pm), drive a few minutes and come to Hopeful Farms, a delightful small farm, home to Melvin and Pauline Fry and family and their happy pasture-raised animals! In addition to visits to the grass-fed cows and free-range pigs, chickens and turkeys, this year we are offering some additional fun activities! Watch a feed-grinding demonstration! Stand back and watch the Frys cut and bale a bit of hay for their animals! Enjoy a pony cart or wagon ride! Feel free to bring a picnic supper and extend your stay as late as 8pm! There will also be a chance to purchase Hopeful Farms’ meat products.

By the way, butchering is NOT a part of the tour. You will only see live, happy animals!

Tours are no charge, and children are certainly welcome! Please feel free to invite friends and family!

1PM-2:15PM Our tour begins at Spring River Dairy (8070 N. 700 W. Ligonier, IN, 46767).

2:30PM to as late as 8PM Our second tour is at Hopeful Farms (11526 N. 400 W. Ligonier, IN, 46767).

Fry Farms Co-op

At Fry Farms Co-op, we provide free-range chicken, duck, and turkey, pastured pork, and 100% grass fed and finished beef. Our practices are not certified organic, but they are chemical-free! Raw A2/A2 milk and a whole array of raw dairy products are also available to our co-op herd share members.

The Frys truly are committed to and passionate about providing outstanding, nourishing foods to families in our area! The Frys use non-GMO seeds, no chemicals and they monitor the health of the soil, testing regularly, noting deficiencies and applying the necessary minerals to the fields to ensure that they are nutrient-dense and full of microbial life. Nutrient dense soil results in nutrient dense plants and those nutrients are passed along in the Fry Farms products that you consume!

The Fry Farms animals are not given hormones or antibiotics and they are either pastured or free-range, roaming out on the fields where they forage on fresh greens and soak up the sunshine. The Frys feed their chickens and pigs organic, soy-free feed. Farm visits and questions about farming practices are certainly welcomed!
